First, the obvious: we make one of the garments on this list, so weigh our view accordingly. We have tried to make the list useful anyway, which means recommending other brands where they are the better buy, and saying plainly where ours is not. Prices are from each brand's own US site in October 2026 and change with sales.

Best on a budget: The Comfy

The Original is a sleeved, pull-over blanket hoodie with a velvety outer and sherpa lining, one size fits most, at $49.99. The Dream is the single-layer version at $44.99, lighter for people who run warm. There is a Long version of each if you want more coverage. Like all sleeved blanket hoodies, it stops around the knee on most adults.

Best for prints and smaller adults: the Oodie

The Oodie Original is the same shape, with flannel fleece outside and sherpa inside, in two sizes: S/M at 85 cm front length and an oversized size at 100 cm. The S/M is the best option here for shorter adults who drown in a one-size cut, and the print range is the widest. $89. We compare the two directly in Oodie vs Comfy.

Best for very tall people: the Eden Hoodie

Free the Sheep's Eden is a floor-length hooded cape, open at the sides and lined in faux fur, sold by height in five adult bands from 5'2" or shorter to 6'6" or taller, plus Mini and Kids. If you are over 6'3" and want it to reach the ankle standing, the height sizing is the reason to pay $199.99. Our Eden size guide explains the bands.

Best floor-length in one size: Enfold

Enfold is ours: a hooded cape with one continuous front and no slit, open at the sides, 56 inches from shoulder to hem, plush faux fur inside and 480 gsm matte cotton-blend fleece outside. One adult size, worn from about 5'0" to 6'3": it reaches the ankle around six foot and pools on the floor on shorter people. Free tracked shipping and free returns. It has no pockets, and above about 6'3" it lands on the shin. The comparison with the Eden is here.

Best floor-length with a pocket: the Eden Pocket Hoodie

The Eden shape with a faux-fur-lined front pocket, in five adult height sizes, $200. If you want floor length and somewhere to put your phone or your hands, nothing else on this list does both. More in our Free the Sheep comparison.

Best for the sofa only: a Snuggie-style blanket

A blanket with sleeves and an open back. It is the cheapest way to be warm while sitting still, and it slides off the moment you stand. If you get up a lot, one of the shapes above will serve you better; see Snuggie alternatives.

How we chose

  • Shape first. Sleeved hoodie, sleeveless cape or sleeved blanket decides more about warmth than the brand does. The three shapes explained.
  • Published facts only. Where a brand does not publish something, we have not guessed it.
  • Length from the shoulder. The only measurement that tells you where the hem lands. Multiply your height in inches by 0.82 and subtract the garment's length to see how far off the floor it sits.
  • Returns. Wearable blankets are bulky to post back. A free return is worth more here than on most clothing.

Common questions

What is the best wearable blanket for adults?

It depends on use. For the lowest price, The Comfy. For prints or a smaller size, the Oodie. For floor length, a hooded cape: the Eden Hoodie if you are very tall, Enfold if you want one size at under half the price.

What is the warmest wearable blanket?

The one that covers the most of you with the fewest gaps. A floor-length hooded cape with a closed front covers your legs and feet when you sit, which a knee-length hoodie cannot. Between linings of similar weight, dense faux fur feels warmer to most people than sherpa.

Are wearable blankets worth it?

If you are cold at home in the evenings, usually yes. Warming the person rather than the room is far cheaper than turning the heating up; we did the arithmetic in heat the person, not the house.

What is the best wearable blanket for tall men?

One with at least 54 to 58 inches from shoulder to hem. Enfold's 56 inches reaches the ankle from about 6'0" to 6'3"; above that, a height-sized cape like the Eden reaches lower. Our tall guide has the table.
