What to check on any floor-length cape
- Length from the shoulder, not the hood. Some listings measure from the top of the hood, which adds 10 inches that never reach the floor.
- Whether the front is closed. A cape with a front opening lets warm air out every time you move. Pull-over designs with a continuous front hold heat better.
- The return cost to you. Floor-length garments are heavy to post. A paid return can cost a meaningful share of the price.
- Care instructions. Faux fur linings should not go in a tumble dryer. If the listing does not say how to wash it, ask before buying.
