Oodie vs The Comfy: Which Blanket Hoodie, and When Neither

The same garment with different trade-offs: The Comfy is cheaper and has a Long cut; the Oodie has a smaller S/M size and far more prints. Neither reaches the floor on most adults.

Last updated: 26 October 2026.

The Comfy was on Shark Tank in 2017 and made the oversized blanket hoodie an American thing. The Oodie started in Australia and made it a worldwide one. They are the same kind of garment: a sleeved, pull-over hoodie in blanket fabric, lined in sherpa, cut very large. The differences are in price, sizing, fabric and range. We make neither, so here is each from its own site, and at the end, when a different shape is the better buy.

Both change prices often with sales. Check each site on the day; the table is what they showed when we last looked.

When The Comfy is the better buy

  • Price. At list, The Original costs a little over half of what the Oodie Original does.
  • You want a longer sleeved one. The Original Long is the obvious option among the two brands.
  • You run warm. The Dream is single-layer and lighter, which suits people who overheat in double-layer sherpa.

When the Oodie is the better buy

  • You are small. The S/M size is a real option for shorter adults who drown in a single oversized cut.
  • You want a print. The Oodie's range of prints and licensed designs is much wider, which matters for gifts.
  • You want to know the length before you buy. Oodie publishes its front lengths. Use them with the method below.

Check where either one lands on you

Multiply your height in inches by 0.82 to get your shoulder height. Subtract the garment's shoulder-to-hem length. What is left is how far above the floor the hem sits. On a 5'6" adult, the Oodie's 100 cm (39 inch) front length leaves the hem about 15 inches off the floor: around the knee or just below it. Both are knee-ish garments on most adults; that is how a sleeved blanket hoodie is designed.

When neither is the right shape

People who search "Oodie vs Comfy" are often really asking something else, and the answer is a different garment:

  • You want it to reach your feet. Sleeved hoodies stop at the knee for a structural reason (more in our floor-length guide). Floor-length versions drop the sleeves and open the sides.
  • The sleeves get in the way. Typing, gaming, holding a book with both hands. A sleeveless hooded cape leaves your hands free and lets you pull your arms back in.
  • You want it to look less like bedding. A matte outer reads as clothing.

Enfold is ours, and it is that other shape: a hooded cape, pulled on over the head with no opening down the front, open at the sides, 56 inches from shoulder to hem, plush faux fur inside and 480 gsm matte cotton-blend fleece outside. One adult size, worn from about 5'0" to 6'3". It costs more than The Comfy and about the same as the Oodie; it is a different garment rather than a cheaper one. If you want a sleeved hoodie, buy one of the two above.

Common questions

Is the Oodie or The Comfy better?

They are very similar garments. The Comfy is cheaper and has a longer version; the Oodie has a smaller size and far more prints. Pick on price, size and print rather than warmth.

Is The Comfy the same as the Oodie?

Same idea, different companies. Both are oversized, sleeved, sherpa-lined blanket hoodies that pull on over the head. They differ in price, sizes, fabric names and ranges, compared above.

Which is longer, the Oodie or The Comfy?

The Oodie publishes a 100 cm front length for its larger size. The Comfy does not list a length on its product page but sells The Original Long for more coverage. Neither sleeved version reaches the floor on an average adult.

What about the Snuggie?

The Snuggie is a blanket with sleeves and an open back, so it stays on while you sit and slides off when you stand. We compare it in our Snuggie alternatives guide.
